All Vanguard University grandparents are invited to join their student for a day full of free activities on April 13, 2012! Grandparents will have the chance to experience their grandchild’s home away from home, and much more!
Please note that Grandparents Day is a special event for students and their grandparents–if grandparents require assistance throughout the day, please contact the Office of Parent Relations at (714) 556-3610 x4821 or parentrelations@vanguard.edu to make arrangements.

Schedule for Friday, April 13
7:30am: Check-in begins (front of Needham Chapel)
7:30am-8:55am: Breakfast in the Cafeteria
9am-9:55am: Welcome and Chapel (Needham Chapel)
10am-10:55am: New Perspectives presented by Alzheimer’s Association (Heath 102)
11am-12:30pm: Lunch Buffet and Special Greeting by President Taylor (Needham Courtyard)
12:30pm-1:15pm: Resource Fair (Campus Mall), featuring:
- Alumni Association
- Alzheimer’s Association
- American Association for Retired Persons (AARP)
- Council on Aging
- Office of Aging
- Parent Relations/Advancement
- Second Half Ministries (AG)
- Young Enough to Serve (YES)
1-2pm: Tech Savvy Afternoon Seminar (Library Computer Lab)
2-4pm: Activity Options, as follows:
1-2:15pm: Concert Choir rehearsal (Needham Chapel)
2-4pm: Lewis Wilson Institute – “Why Tongues: The Philosophy and History Behind the Initial Evidence Doctrine in North American Pentecostal Churches” Rev. Dr. Kenneth R. Walters Jr, Senior Pastor of West Valley Christian Center in Chatsworth, CA (Heath 109)
Campus Tours: Grandparents, enjoy a 45 minute narrated tour of campus. Groups will leave every 15 minutes from the front of Needham Chapel, first come first served.
Games Tournament: Join the students of Laguna and Huntington in a tournament of games (Tower’s Lobby)
Wii Bowling: Join the students of Laguna and Huntington Halls in one of their favorite Friday stress relievers (Tower’s Lobby)
Bocce Ball (Lawn Bowling) Looking for a fun, slightly competitive activity that both you and your grandchild can do? Join our staff on the Tower’s Lawn for a round of Bocce Ball! It’s easy to learn and fun for all ages. Matches last 30 minutes. (Tower’s Lawn)
VU Bingo: Learn about Vanguard while playing our version of Bingo (Cove)
4-5pm: Music and Closing (Needham Chapel)
5-7pm: Dinner on your own
7-8pm: Guitar Ensemble Concert (Needham Chapel)
8-9:30pm: “Pajama Game” theatre production (Lyceum Theatre) – purchase tickets here
