How do I access my student’s grades?
Many of you may be wondering how to obtain your student’s grades for the semester. Grades will be posted on each student’s private page of the online portal to the VU database. This would be the easiest way to access your student’s grades and celebrate your student’s successes. If a printed grade is required by the student, it will only be issued by the Office of the Registrar, printed on an official grade report or transcript, and will not be given over the telephone.
As a reminder, if your student is over 18 or attends a post secondary institution the University cannot legally give you grade, financial, or disciplinary information on your student without their permission (due to FERPA). If you would like access to your student’s grades or other private information, your student will need to complete a Secondary Access Form and submit the form to the Office of the Registrar. Secondary Access Forms can be found at http://registrar.vanguard.edu/ under the forms section. Your student has the right to change the restrictions regarding who has access to their records at any point in time.
If your student has completed the Secondary Access Form and given you permission to view their grades you can follow these guidelines to obtain their grades.
1. Ask your student to request their transcript and have it sent to you.
OR
2. You can fill out a letter of verification and write a note on the form that you would like to request your student’s unofficial grade report.
Both of these forms can be found on the forms section Office of the Registrar’s website.
If you have questions regarding accessing your student’s grades, feel free to contact the Office of the Registrar at (714) 662-5200/ records@vanguard.edu or Parent Relations at parentrelations@vanguard.edu.
